We All Have The Power Of Healing—No Matter What
My own journey of healing from complex trauma is what led me to become a life coach and guide. Not all types of therapy resonated with me, but I found the healing I needed through gifted coaches and spiritual guides. My results from these gentle methods filled me with so much optimism that I decided to use what I’d learned to help others experience similar growth.
I believe that each of us has a special inner ability to heal. We have more strength than we realize, even in our lowest moments. Within all of us is a core self who can help us heal that is waiting to be nurtured and expressed. This inner resource is never damaged, but it can feel like it is far away in our most difficult times. My goal as a counselor is to help bring that inner power to life, allowing people to deepen their self-compassion and fulfill the dreams they’ve put on the sideline.
Everyone brings a different experience into their sessions. My life is not the same as yours, yet I can hold the right kind of safe and empathetic space for your life experiences. I know what it’s like to suffer the anxiety that comes with being “different,” getting stuck in relationships that don’t feel “right,” and finding yourself in mid-life without a real sense of purpose. My life has served up many challenging events like chronic health problems, financial instability, complex childhood trauma and ongoing family judgment, and many other issues.
Additionally, I know what it’s like to wrestle with spirituality and a lack of meaning in life. Throughout our lives, we have many experiences that don’t fit neatly into our worldview—how do we integrate them? What do these experiences teach us about ourselves? These are questions that inform my practice today.
I Can Help You Form A Relationship With Every Part Of Yourself
My primary approach to the healing process is called Internal Family Systems (IFS). The goal of IFS is to nurture your inner capacity to heal and find balance. Through IFS Coaching, you will get to know the different parts of yourself so that you can form a loving and supportive relationship with every aspect of who you are.
Each of your parts wants to help you get through life. But how your parts seek to help you might conflict with goals you have. For instance, if a good friend invites you to a reunion and you know that someone who wronged you will be there, a part of you may want to attend and another part may not. As an Internal Family Systems Guide, I can help you listen to these conflicting parts and give them a space to share their story. I want you to call upon your inner self-compassion and curiosity to find harmony between them.
Additionally, I incorporate somatic and body-based practices into my approach. The body is the storehouse of trauma, anxiety, depression, and many other ills. Paying attention to our bodies can help us learn more about who we are and why we feel the way we do. Starting with grounding practices like meditation and focused breathwork, you can become more in touch with your body and learn to really hear the messages your body is giving you.
In my practice today, all experiences and all forms of growth are welcome. I strive to give clients a safe container to explore the questions that keep reoccurring to them, such as: What if I said yes to my authentic needs? Could I ever really love my body? Can my parents accept me for who I am? Along the way, I can walk with you and help you uncover your own answers.
A Little Bit About Who I Am
When I was kid people often called me “weird,” yet I didn’t really mind it. Later in life, I came to the realization that I am neurodiverse. This realization helped me make sense of earlier life experiences and expanded my ability to connect with my own emotions and healing. I was victimized by others a few times in life before I realized I had another voice inside that was there to protect me from harmful situations. It took me years of practice to learn to trust my intuition. To grow and face your challenges isn’t easy, but the rewards are great.
In addition to my work as an IFS Life Coach and Guide, I am involved in numerous community groups in the Salt Lake City area. I am part of a local trail running organization, a woman’s resource group, and my local “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” circle. I embrace the philosophy of “living the gift,” wherein we all share our strengths with openness and generosity.
I love to be in nature — I’ve been a long-distance trail-runner for over three decades. I love the solitude and serenity that comes from spending lots of time in wild spaces. Writing has also helped me immensely with personal and professional growth — I write stories and poetry, journal, and do contract work as a copywriter. But above all, the most valuable things in my life are connections and love. My relationships with my chosen family, dear friends, and long-term romantic partner are what bring me joy.
